The same research group found that when calories were cut. There was an increase in LDL and triglyceride levels. There was also an increase in a protein called apolipoprotein B. It is also associated with an increased risk of heart disease. They did not find an increased risk in the group that used these sweeteners. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they are completely safe.
